National Commander Larry Wulf, his wife Rita and National Auxiliary President Regina Bilodeau accepted invitations from Post 1562 Commander Tom Voytek and Auxiliary Unit President Loretta Budd to attend the annual family outing at St. Michael’s Post 1562 in Derby, CT.

Arriving a day or two prior to the event and departing the following Monday, Larry, Rita and Regina enjoyed shopping, visited local sites of interest, and attended Sunday Mass.  National 1st VC Michael Ranno and his wife, PNP Susan Ranno provided the hospitality for NC Wulf and Rita, and National 1st VP Loretta Budd provided hospitality for NP Bilodeau.  Post 1562 is located near New Haven which is world famous for its pizza, so the group was treated to three delicious large pies at Ernie’s Pizzeria.   NC Wulf and Rita also experienced their first LOBSTER dinner at Westbrook Lobster in Wallingford.

No one went home hungry from their trip because the Post Outing featured a variety of foods including Liver, Bacon & Onions, eggs, potato pancakes, pierogi, hot dogs, hamburgers, Venison Barley and Rhode Island Clam Chowder soups, grilled chicken, grilled kielbasa, corn on the cob, cold salads and more!

National VSO Officer Richard Gales was also an invited guest, but it was all business for him.  Post 1562 spread the word to its Veteran members that Rick would be here to assist individuals with questions about VA eligibility and claims, so Rick had a line of individuals waiting to speak with him.   All of the veterans who spoke with our VSO Gales were very appreciative of his knowledge and stated he was a great help to them.
